The stage is set for the 34th edition of the biggest tournament in Africa, AFCON, as the draw for the groupings was recently conducted in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, the host country. Here, we discuss the AFCON 2024 fixtures and answer frequently asked questions about the tournament.
Africa Cup of Nations Fixtures 2024
24 teams secured qualification into this tournament, including the host, Ivory Coast. The teams are divided into 6 AFCON groups (A-F), each with 4 nations, as shown below. Players will have so many games to bet on their favourite bookmakers, with each team playing three times in the group stage.
After the group stage, there will be 8 matches in the Round-of-16, 4 matches in the quarterfinal, 2 matches in the semi-final, and 1 match each in the third place and final.

Two-time champions and host Ivory Coast will open the tournament in a fixture against Guinea Bissau, while three-time winners Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in the other game of the group.
Group B
Record holders Egypt will face Mozambique in the group’s first game, while Black Stars of Ghana will face Cape Verde.
Group C
This has been tagged as the group of death as it features rivals Senegal and Cameroon. Current holders Senegal slug it out with the Gambia and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon face Guinea.
Group D
The 2019 winners, Algeria, will play the group’s opening fixture against Angola, and 2013 finalist Burkina Faso will face Mauritania.
Group E
2004 host and winner Tunisia will open the group with a game against Mali, while Bafana Bafana of South Africa face Namibia.
Group F
This group’s first game will see 2022 World Cup semi-finalist Morocco face Tanzania, and Dr Congo will slug it out with Zambia in the other match.
